If you're new to the site, then I'd like to welcome you! I encourage you to start at the beginning with The Barrier City, chronologically the first story set in the world of Transcendence.
Transcendence is an epic tale told in the form of stories that vary in length, style, focalizers, and plot direction. The glue holding each story to the other is the conflict between what is right and what is allowed, the dilemma which can arise between what is correct and what is the law. Which is morally superior, self-centered isolationism, or self-centered altruism? Which is more effective? These are the themes that stick each story together.
That and the giant insects and wicked explosions. Plus, all the stories are shiny.
Not really, but sort of. It is a collection of stories that occur chronologically, geographically, and thematically close to one another and which are collected in one place in a text about the size of a novel.
Two stories are up right now, but there is no production schedule for future stories. I'll share my progress and occassionally drafts of scenes or character sketches on this site. Completed stories will be announced on the main page and placed in the Archives.
I'm Richard Wayne Houchin, and I'm excited to have people here reading my stuff.
You're here, aren't you?
That's why I've made printable versions of each story available. Print yourself a copy and read it while you sit wherever it is you non-internet folk do your sitting.
Yeah, the stories of Transcendence can run pretty long. Make sure you get into a comfy chair before starting on Transcendence. Rest assured, I'm certain it's worth the time investment (my mom says so, too!)
I do have some shorter stories, found in the Timeless wing of the site. Check out the Timeless FAQ for more information!
If you find a typo, you can e-mail me at support@worldofdreamers.com and I'll take a look. I'm obsessive about making my work technically flawless, so I appreciate all the help I can get. If you think you've found a plot hole, then that just means I haven't published the story that explains it in a perfectly legitimate manner. Have patience. Or hey! Here's an idea! Use your imagination!
I'm glad you asked! Check out the awesome video section over at www.waynehouchin.com. You'll get to see my big brother performing some remarkable feats of dexterity and misdirection.
