Richard Houchin

A great philosopher once said that a sorry excuse for a human being is still a human being, and so deserves some measure of compassion. In the same vein, this is a sorry excuse for a blog, because I rarely update it. Be gentle in your furious and anonymous criticisms!

Long Term

I have neglected my personal blog in favor of Dark Taco, a collaborative blog with Roy Steves and several others.

My negligence now results in a surfeit of big announcements. Firstly, I started down a path to earn a medical degree. I have spent over 20 hours volunteering at the local Immediate Care Clinic, and I am using MIT Open CourseWare to teach myself chemistry and calculus. I took the practice MCAT, and researched what I would need to do to get through medical school. All of that is detailed in my medical school posts. They taper off at the end because I was not sure what exactly I could share about my experiences at the clinic, patient privacy and all that.

Secondly, I'm not pursuing an MD as aggressively any more. It's been set off a bit. Because I got a new job. In Bellevue, Washington. At 68% more pay than my current job.

I start on May 3. More details at the crispy Dark Taco!
